Capital City Food Pantry
Capital City's Food Pantry is located at the Tavares Community Center, 285 Chad Brown Street, Providence, RI. The center is open Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The pantry provides fresh produce (Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.), canned and frozen food products, meats, fish and poultry to the low-to-moderate income people of Smith Hill and surrounding neighborhoods.
Annually, we distribute more than 200,000 pounds of food, and the amount continues to increase, as need is constantly growing.
Our goal is to ensure that no child, adult or family goes hungry on our watch. We are pleased to be a distribution point for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The operation of the Food Pantry is made possible through the generous donations of the Rhode Island Foundation, the Rhode Island Senate and Hasbro Children's Fund, and many generous individual contributors.
